We chose an area which suffers from pollution, overshadowing, and a lack of green and open spaces. We propose to create a more livable environment minimising hard landscape and introducing soft landscape elements and porous materials to reduce the urban heat island effect. We propose to create a network of pedestrian streets and semi-public open spaces which can be used in many different ways for social activities and recreation. In connecting some of these spaces and in opening the closed blocks the social layer of communication on the ground will be improved.

We propose to use the roofs as environmental factories to generate electricity, supply hot water, fresh air and provide summer cooling as well as forming a roof landscape. Victoria Square will function as a connection between open spaces and pedestrian streets. An extension to the outside for restaurants and cafes is given by closing the streets which now divide the space.

The whole idea can be seen as the creation of a pattern that can be easily reproduced in other areas  of the city with similar characteristics and potentialities.
